Virtual.Offis’ primary data
centre is a Utility Grade facility with dual phase un-interruptible
power supply, redundant mains, battery backup and diesel
generators, electrical fault, ionisation, fire and smoke
detection.
The primary data centre
is conveniently located only minutes from Sydney’s
CBD in the City West building in Pyrmont. Purpose built
in 1990 as a digital data and satellite broadcast centre
for Galaxy Television, the building has been designed
with the necessary physical infrastructure and power
systems to support utility grade data centre operations. The City West building
is now owned and occupied by UBI World TV and remains
the centre for Satellite TV broadcasting in Australia.

Virtual.Offis’ main Network
Operations Centre is a 24 hour, 365 day, lights on
and lights off secure facilities with the following
features:
- A redundant Multistack environmental
control system ensures the rack room is kept at
a constant 19ºC (+/- 2º) and regulates
room temperature and humidity providing a cool,
static free operating environment.
- The entire building is protected
by a redundant TYHCON uninterruptible power supply
which includes:
- Dual phase mains into the building
- Filtered and UPS on two circuits to every rack
(2 x 200KVa)
- Redundant diesel generators on the roof with
20,000L of diesel
- 24 hour VESDA Fire and smoke detection
system
- 19” Rack mounting in secure
Glass House environment
- Tiled raised steel and concrete
access flooring

Physical security measures
include;
- 24 x 7 security guards on site
- CCTV surveillance throughout the building
- Proximity readers and electronic passes restrict
access to sensitive areas.
- Virtual.Offis personnel escort all visitors to
the facility.
Virtual.Offis has a
second data centre located on the north shore of Sydney
which also has interruptible power supply, redundant
mains, battery backup and diesel generators, electrical
fault, ionisation, fire and smoke detection. |

Virtual.Offis
provides IBM System I and System X servers, Operating
System installation and maintenance, backup routine
with retention cycles, premium service 24 x 7 system
real-time monitoring and alert response support.
Virtual.Offis hosting
solutions include the following Managed Services as
standard for a flat monthly hosting fee:
- Operating system
maintenance, service pack updates and scheduled patching.
- 24 x 7 system monitoring (CPU, HDD & NIC) and
alert response. Virtual.Offis technicians are alerted
to a problem, respond accordingly and can have it fixed
before the customer is even aware of it.
Standard
alerts are activated for:
- CPU usage at 90% for 5 Min.
- Memory usage at 90% for 5 Min.
- Disk space at 80%, 90% and 95%
- Server On-line / Off-line
- Web site up / down with ServersAlive
- IIS service Stop / Start
- Monitored SQL Stop / Start
- Event log tracking for policy changes
- Daily differential & full weekly backups to the central tape library
with offsite storage.
- Remote control and secure file transfer via Tivoli IT Management Console
- Basic protection behind CISCO firewalls prevent common attacks such as
denial of service (DoS) and synch attacks.
- The firewalls are in stateful failover mode for high availability.
- Disaster recovery and system replication for automated failover.
- Server clustering, server load balancing and geographical load balancing.
- IBM hardware with redundant power supplies, hard drives and standby hardware
- Real time virus scanning with Norton and virus definition updates.
- Vulnerability management via a secure portal with links to remediation
databases.
- Change management is managed via written authorisation. Customer requested
changes may be made over the phone and we will request a confirmation by
email.
- Network Configuration changes are managed and tracked via Device Expert

Virtual.Offis provides
Managed Exchange email services with Calendar, Contacts,
Tasks, Notes, Anti Virus, Anti SPAM, Web access, Public
Folders and MAPI.
Virtual.Offis offers
a number of domain name services from AUNic, NetRegistry,
MelbourneIT and Network Solutions. SSL certificate encryption
keys are sourced from VeriSign. Virtual.Offis can provide
installation and testing of certificates.
Operational activities
include application monitoring,, database administration,
help-desk support, change management and disaster recovery
planning and testing. |

CRAIG
ALLEN , CEO & Co-founder
Craig has been managing
Offis Pty Ltd since 1997, having been a co-founder
of the company. He has a BSc (Computer Science)
and has completed Business Administration
studies run by the Darden Graduate School
of Business Administration, University of
Virginia.
From 1986 to 1998, Mr. Allen worked for
IBM in Australia, USA and Asia in a variety
of technical, product management and marketing
roles.
Prior to this he worked in the EDP Department
of Wardleys Australia (part of the Hong
Kong Bank) and IDG Communications (publisher
of various IT magazines). |
RON
WISE , Executive Director
Ron completed his
PhD in Biochemistry at the University of
Western Australia before spending four
years in the United States where he was
the Post Doctoral Fellow, first at Florida
State University and then at Stanford University
California.
He commenced his business life in Western
Australia by forming an oil and gas exploration
company, which located substantial gas
reserves in the Perth basin and these
reserves still supply the City of Perth.
Ron is also a Chairman of Cape Range
Ltd a company listed on the ASX, and
directed its activities to technology
investment, initially in the field of
renewable energy developed by Exergy
Inc, a US Corporation., non-executive
Chairman of Planar Semi Conductor Inc.
a New York based manufacturer of precision
semiconductor process equipment. |
